If you have very recently donated blood, and are now considering going for a run, my advice to you would be "stop right there. you need all 8 pints to run to the beach and back. Because there's a very strong possibility you'll get a quarter of a mile and then collapse into a huffing, puffing, high heart rate mess."

Hey Ethan, nice blog. I'm a total stranger (though I live close by in Oaktown) who found your blog by googling yellow jumpsuit "bottle rocket," because I want one, and it turns out you've had the good taste and sense to buy one. Don't regret it! So where did you get it? It looks like the only sites that sell these are safety and apparel suppliers for the nuclear industry, and they're all baggy and awkward, very un-Dignan-like.

I donated blood last week and got the "no strenuous exercise for five hours" lecture. Not so funny until you realize that I work at the top of a mighty steep hill on which the entire campus is distributed (thousands of steps!) and the blood-giving facility was at the very bottom of the hill. Yay for handrails!
